Your Wedding day is supposed to be a dream come true kind of day! So why ruin it with unhappy guests! Three most common complaints of guests attending weddings:
1 Long, dragged out Toasts: When making your toast to the bride and Groom, Guests do not want to hear your childhood memories of you and the bride or groom. Nor do they want to hear of the previous girlfriends the groom had prior to meeting his bride or how many Boyfriends the bride had before she met the groom. Don’t be overly dramatic. Make it short and to the point. Don’t isolate the quests with inside jokes with hidden meanings that only you, the Bride & the Groom will understand. The best man should create his speech at least 3 weeks prior to the wedding. That way he could add on anything he forgot he wanted to say, and reading it over to yourself will help you remember your speech the day of the wedding. Although Some people just get up and say what comes to mind at that moment, that is not advisable as it could be disastrous!! If you are not normally a funny person, then don’t try to be. Just be yourself, remember some of the topics you wrote down, and things will go smoothly for you. The sooner you get on with the reception the happier the guests will be!
2. Loud Music at Reception: You should discuss the volume of the music with your D.J. prior to the reception. The music should be at a comfortable level that everyone can enjoy. A tip would be to try to seat the older quests farthest away from the speakers and the younger ones closer.
3. Photography: Guests complain about having to sit and wait an hour or two before Bridal party actually gets to the reception. Mainly because the photographer is taking too long taking pictures. When possible, the Bride should have most of her formal shots taken prior to the Wedding. Some brides do not want the Groom to see her prior to the wedding day, so you should discuss with your photographer how many photo shots he is to take. You don’t need forty shots of the same pose or the same location. You can also take plenty of pictures at the reception, that way you include the quests. If you know that you are going to take some time taking pictures, then have the D.J. start playing music, maybe not dance music, but something nice to listen to while they wait. Or maybe you could have an open the bar for some drinks and some hors d’oeuvres so that you keep the guests entertained while they wait for the Bridal Party to arrive.
