The bridal check list is kind of a "to do" list that can help keep you on track for your Wedding day. It can ensure that things run more smoothly on your Special day.

Not everything in this list will apply to all weddings, nor is it claimed to be a complete list either. These are just simple suggestions to help plan your wedding. Use it to jumpstart your own wedding day checklist.

 

 

You hooked the guy, now its time to plan the wedding! Here are the steps to complete the wedding you have always wanted!

8 TO 12 Months Before the Wedding

70Select a wedding date, time, and location.
69Decide the type of wedding you would like to have.  (size, formality, and setting)
68Begin your guest list.
64Consider possible color schemes.  Explore pre-marital counseling.
66Start health and fitness plan.
65Select and hire your professional: photographer, caterer, consultant, disc jockey, etc.   (It is never too early to reserve your wedding professionals)
64Shop together for your wedding rings.
63Decide upon your budget.
62Determine who will pay what expenses.
61Book your wedding location(s).

5 to 8 Months

2 to 3 Months

41Have engagement portraits taken.
40Place your engagement announcement in the newspaper.
39Mail out invitations and announcements.
38Decide on the mens’ wedding attire.
37Arrange and plan your rehearsal dinner.
36Purchase your wedding day accessories.
35Arrange attendants' parties.
34Book a beverage caterer for the reception and make selections.
33Prepare accommodations for out-of-town attendants and guests.
32Consider a hairdresser and/or makeup artist and book appointments.
31Finalize all honeymoon plans.


2 to 4 Weeks

30Final wedding dress fitting.
29Final fitting for your wedding attendants.
28Obtain marriage license.
27Have your attendants' parties.
26Purchase your going-away outfit.
25Draw a map to direct your guests to the site(s), if necessary.
24Create a calendar of events for the wedding day.
23Make sure your accessories are in order (rings, pillow, garter, etc.)


1 to 2 Weeks

22Finalize arrangements with the entertainer(s) and provide a list of music you would like played during special events such as first dance, garter removal and bouquet toss.   (Sound Stage will contact you during this time)
21Pick up your wedding rings and make sure that the engravings are correct and they fit properly.
20Contact the guests who have not responded to your invitations.


1 to 7 Days

19Make sure your marriage license is in order.
18Prepare seating arrangements, if necessary.
17Purchase travelers checks, confirm honeymoon reservations.
16Pack your baggage for your honeymoon.
15Have your wedding ceremony rehearsal.
14Instruct your wedding party on what you would like them to do on the day of the wedding.
13Have your rehearsal dinner.
12Make sure all wedding attire fits properly.
11Give the best man the amount the professionals are to be paid on the day of the wedding.
10Inform your caterer of the total guest count.
10Confirm out-of-town guests have transportation and sleeping accommodations.
9Check with your florist and/or balloonist to make sure they will arrive when scheduled.


Your Wedding Day

8Relax, enjoy yourself, and remain calm! Allow at least two hours for dressing.
7Allow plenty of time to apply your makeup and style your hair.
6If professionals are doing your hair and/or makeup, ask them in advance how much time they will need.
5If photographs are to be taken before the ceremony, allow at least one and one-half hours.
4Remember to bring the rings and marriage license.
3Seat guests as they arrive. The groom’s parents should be seated about 5 minutes before start time, the mother of the bride is normally seated last.
